A. Potential Harm.
If your counselor determines that you pose a danger to yourself or others,
he or she may provide information about you to medical personnel, the police,
a potential victim, or significant family members.
B.
Abuse or neglect. Most states require that counselors
report any suspected abuse or neglect of a child, or an elderly or
disabled person to the appropriate authorities. The specific legal requirement
will depend on the state in which you are being seen for counseling.
C.
Court cases. In certain limited instances counselors may
reveal information learned in sessions if ordered to testify in court or when
your records are under subpoena.
D.
Supervision/case conference. To ensure the highest level
of care, many of our counselors regularly meet with a supervisor as well as
discuss cases in clinical case conference with colleagues at WPCS
